PRIDE OPEN UP HOME CONFERENCE SLATE WITH WIN

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's lacrosse team never trailed as they defeated New England Collegiate Conference opponent Becker College 16-2 in a rain soaked affair at Regis Stadium on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Crimson and Gold move to 4-3 and 2-0 in the conference while the Hawks fall to 2-8, 1-1 NECC.

Senior captain Sierra Luce (Hartford, Vt.) tallied four goals and an assist during the victory while teammates Emily Kosak (Milton, Mass.) and Sam Salamone (Milford, Mass.) matched Luce with four markers of their own. Kosak added an assist, three groundballs and three draw controls while Salamone scooped up a game-best seven groundballs and won four draw controls.

Pride goalkeeper Emma Decker (Southborough, Mass.) recorded her 500th career save in the victory. Decker currently has made 508 saves which is good enough for first in program history.

Three of Luce's four goals came as she drove through the teeth of the Hawks defensive unit and rifled shots high into the cage. The other came on a free position attempt. Salamone had a hat-trick in the first half after she took a pass from Luce who was behind the net and fired a shot top shelf to make it 7-0 Regis with 14:27 left in the half. Salamone's third goal was on a free position shot.

Regis held a sizeable 10-0 advantage at the half and never looked back.

Becker got on the board 1:40 into the second stanza after Erika Galdamez (Concord, Calif.) fed teammate Rachel Welling (Charlestown, N.H.) who was waiting in front for a pass and put home a shot where momma hides the cookies to make it a 10-1 Regis lead. Galdamez would add a goal on a free position attempt minutes later.

Emily Kosak scored the final four goals of the contest; three of them unassisted and one from sophomore defender Erin Loehner (Danvers, Mass.) to put the game away as Regis won 16-2.

Newcomer Taylor Assarian (Arlington, Mass.) scored two goals and dished out two assists on the win. Kiana Koke (Queensbury, N.Y.), and Nicole Roche (Waltham, Mass.) added scores while Arianna Woodley (Norwood, Mass.) assisted on one of Salamone's scores.

Emma Decker stopped 11 shots in the win and moved to 4-3 on the year. Nikolle Storey (Cumberland, Maine) made eight saves in the setback.

Regis returns to action on Tuesday when they welcome Framingham State to campus for a 5:00 p.m. showdown.
