PRIDE BEAT EAGLES, WIN FIRST CONFERENCE CONTEST

NASHUA, N.H. - Regis built an 8-1 lead at the half and tacked in six second half goals to top host Daniel Webster, 14-3 in the New England Collegiate Conference openers for both squads Wednesday afternoon at Eagle Field.

Sam Salamone (Milford, Mass.) posted four points to lead the Pride (3-3, 1-0 NECC) with three goals and an assist while adding game highs of six ground balls and seven draw controls. Emily Kosak (Milton, Mass.) added three scores. Taylor Assarian (Arlington, Mass.) chipped in with two.

Madeline Roulier (Pittsfield, Mass.) posted two goals for the Eagles (1-5, 0-1 NECC) while Taylor St. Jean (Manchester, N.H.) posted the other. Christina Hem (Lowell, Mass.) pulled in five draws.

Emma Decker (Southborough, Mass.) picked up five saves in goal for the winners while Madison Wood (Suwanee, Ga.) made 20 stops for DWC.

Regis finished with a 34-8 advantage in shots on goal and added a 25-18 differential in ground balls and a 14-5 win on draw controls. Regis also converted four goals on free position.

DWC grabbed the early lead on Roulier's first just 1:52 into the game but Regis would rattle off the next 12 extending into the second half. Eight different goal scorers contributed for Regis in the first period.

St. Jean would convert on a free position for DWC with 16:50 to go in the second that made it a 12-2 game and Roulier later closed the game out with her second of the day with 2:08 remaining.

Both Kosak and Salamone would score once in the first half and twice in the second.

The Eagles remain home to host Southern Vermont in a NECC matchup on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Regis hosts NECC foe Becker on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
