BUSIEK POWERS PRIDE ATTACK, REGIS BEATS BECKER

LEICESTER, Mass. – Regis College defeated Becker College 15-3 in New England Collegiate Conference women's lacrosse action Tuesday afternoon at Alumni Field. The win moves the Pride record to 3-4 (2-0 NECC) while the Hawks fall to 4-4 (1-1 NECC).

The Pride opened the game with five unanswered goals. The first goal came 1:37 into the game when Teresa Busiek (Arlington, Mass.) scored on a bounce shot. Busiek gave Regis a 2-0 advantage on a free-position shot with 20:44 remaining in the half. Regis continued to keep the pressure on the Hawks when Sam Salamone (Milford, Mass.) found Katie Haidemenos (Warwick, R.I.) for her second goal of the season.

Teresa Busiek completed her hat-trick with 13:18 remaining in the half when she scored on another bounce shot to make the score 4-0. Sashae Walls (Everett, Mass.) finished the 5-0 run for the Pride when she redirected off the post and into the Becker net.

Becker finally got on the board with 11:10 remaining in the first half when Tatum Fahs (Foster, R.I.) bounced a shot into the back of the Regis net. The Hawks cut the deficit to 5-2 when Rachel Welling (Charlestown, N.H.) centered a pass to Tatum Fahs who scored top shelf.

The excitement was short lived for Becker as Regis went on to add another five consecutive goals to close out the first half. Grace Politis (Billerica, Mass.) give the Pride a 6-2 cushion when she tickled the twine with free-position shot. Linsay Bumila (Raynham, Mass.) fed Sam Salamone with a pass through the Becker defense for her 16th goal of the season. After Teresa Busiek netted two more goals to make the score 9-2, Grace Politis capped off the first half scoring with her 17th maker of the season.

The second half opened with a Sam Salamone goal as she cut through the Becker defense, scoring with and underhand shot into the bottom right corner of the Hawks net. The Pride extended the lead to 14-2 when Sashae Walls, Teresa Busiek, and Linsay Bumila scored on consecutive free-position shots. Sierra Luce (Hartford, Vt.) closed out the Regis attack with her third goal of the season.

Tatum Fahs completed the hat-trick when she scored with 9:34 remaining in regulation to make the final score 15-3.

Regis goalie Emma Decker (Southborough, Mass.) made 13 saves to earn the victory while Karena Prescott (New Bedford, Mass.) turned away four shots in the loss.

Both teams return to action on Thursday, April 2 at 4:00 p.m. Becker will travel to Wheelock College while Regis heads to Thomas College.
