SALAMONE & WEHR SWEEP NECC WEEKLY AWARDS

WESTON, Mass. – Sophomores Sam Salamone (Milford, Mass.) and Abbie Wehr (Suwanee, Ga.) of the Regis College women's lacrosse team have been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, it was announced on Monday. The pair helped lead the Pride to a 2-0 week, which included a victory in their NECC opener, to push their team's winning streak to five games.

Salamone recorded 13 points over the two wins. She scored five goals and had two assists, six groundballs, and seven draw controls in Monday's 11-9 non-league win over River. The next day, she registered five goals, one assist, three groundballs, and five draw controls in the Pride's 21-3 win over Mitchell.

Wehr picks up her second Rookie of the Week distinction of the season after scoring four goals over the two wins. She scored a goal and added three groundballs in Monday's win over the Raiders. Wehr closed out the week by scoring a hat trick in Regis' victory over the Mariners on Tuesday.

Salamone, Wehr, and the rest of the Pride (5-2, 1-0 NECC) return to play on Thursday with a 5 p.m. non-conference home game against Saint Joseph's (Me.).
