POLITIS AND WEHR SWEEP NECC WEEKLY AWARDS

WESTON, Mass. – Junior Grace Politis (Billerica, Mass.) and sophomore Abbie Wehr (Suwanee, Ga.) of the Regis College women's lacrosse team have been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively; it was announced by the league's offices on Monday morning. Politis and Wehr helped the Pride capture their first win of the season, a 16-8 victory over Maine Farmington on Saturday afternoon.

Politis, an attack, recorded seven points off of four goals and three assists in the win. She also scooped up eight ground balls, forced four caused turnovers, and won three draw controls. Through three games this season, Politis ranks first in the conference in points (18), goals (13), and assists (5).

Wehr, an attack/midfielder, made her first collegiate start count after she scored the first goal of her college career on a free position shot on Saturday. She capped a 9-0 run by the Pride in the second half to help solidify the victory.

The Pride (1-2) will look to carry their momentum into Thursday when they welcome Thomas (Me.) for a 5 p.m. non-conference game.
