PROVIDENCE, R.I.Grace Politis (Billerica, Mass.) scored five goals, and Sam Salamone (Milford, Mass.) recorded a hat trick, but it was not enough as Regis College fell to Johnson & Wales University, 13-10, on Thursday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action.

Johnson & Wales jumped out to the early lead and held the 5-1 advantage after a goal by Marissa Hart (Cohoes, N.Y.) with 16:07 left in the first half. The Wildcats had control of the rest of the half and took the 8-4 lead heading into halftime.

Regis climbed back into the game early in the second half and cut the lead to 8-7 on a goal by Politis with 18:47 left in regulation. The two teams then traded goals with the score 10-9 in favor of the Wildcats with just over six minutes remaining.

JWU then used back-to-back goals by Lydia Knapp (Glen Falls, N.Y.) and sophomore Jessica Schmell (Coopersburg, Pa.) to take the 12-9 lead. The Wildcats then held on for the 13-10 victory.

Sashae Walls (Everett, Mass.) and Rachel Wong (Wakefield, Mass.) scored the other two goals for the Pride. Politis, Walls, Salamone, and Mary Roma (Portland, Maine) each had three groundballs to lead the defense. Emma Decker (Southborough, Mass.) tallied eight stops in the setback.
