BUSIEK TALLIES EIGHT GOALS AS PRIDE SOAR PAST EAGLES 19-4

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's lacrosse team defeated Green Mountain College Saturday afternoon by the score of 19-4. The win moves the Pride to 8-4 overall on the season, while the Eagles drop to 2-7.

The Pride was led by Teresa Busiek (Arlington, Mass.) who notched a game high of eight goals and one assist on the contest. Freshman Grace Politis (Billerica, Mass.) netted six goals on the game for the Pride.

The Pride started the first half with a tally from Busiek on a free position shot to give Regis a 1-0 lead. Busiek would tally a goal less than a minute later to put Regis up by two.

The Eagles answered with a goal from Corinne Colpitts (Groveland, Mass.) who drove hard to the cage and placed a shot past the Pride defense to make the score 2-1.

The Pride found its groove on offense two minutes later when Politis converted a pass from Busiek to give Regis its third goal of the game. This tally started a 5-0 run midway through the first half to put the Pride up by six.

The Eagles bounced back to tally two quick goals from Lara Baxter (Maybrook, N.Y.) and Johanna Douglas (Essex, Conn.) making the score 7-3.

Busiek and Politis gave the Pride three more goals before the end of the half to put Regis up 11-3.

The second half opened with an offensive burst by Busiek who ratcheted off three consecutive goals to put the Pride goal total to 14. Adena Joseph (Stoughton, Mass.), Andrea Barbosa (Taunton, Mass.) ,and Katie Haidemenos (Warwick, R.I) all recorded single tallies in the second half for the Pride.

Douglas scored the final goal of the game for the Eagles giving them four on the day.

Meghan Ryan (Stowe, Mass.) led the Pride defense in goal by tallying five saves on the game. The Eagles were led in goal by Virginia Anderson (Silver Spring, M.d.) who recorded 11 saves on the day.

The Pride's next match-up is Saturday April 21st when the team host Massachusetts Maritime Academy at 12:30 p.m.
