REGIS MAKES IT THREE-STRAIGHT WITH WIN OVER ELMS

WESTON, Mass.Teresa Busiek (Arlington, Mass.) scored six goals and Grace Politis (Billerica, Mass) added five of her own and an assist as Regis College defeated visiting Elms College, 16-5, on Saturday afternoon in women's lacrosse action in Weston, Mass. The Pride extend their winning-streak to three games and improve to 4-2 overall with the win. Elms drops to 0-4 with the setback.

Politis and Busiek got the scoring started for the Pride as they traded goals for the first four tallies of the contest to give the Pride an early 4-0 lead. Lauren Mazza (Agawam, Mass.) got the Blazers on the board with her sixth goal of the season to make it a 4-1 game with just over 19 minutes to play. However, Politis responded with her third goal of the day that began an 8-0 run for Regis to end the half, giving the Pride a 12-1 lead at the break.

Busiek netted four goals in the stretch, while Politis added three of her own with Andrea Barbosa (Taunton, Mass.) assisting on one of the scores. Freshman Rachel Wong (Wakefield, Mass.) scored the other goal for the Pride, tallying her first career goal.

The Pride held a 20-4 edge in shots in the opening half and grabbed 12 of the 14 draw controls. The Pride also scooped up 15 groundballs and went 3-for-4 on clears, compared to 11 groundballs and 3-for-9 on clears for the Blazers.

Sashae Walls (Everett, Mass.) scored the first goal of the second half and Elms' Lauren Mazza added her second of the game on a free position shot that made it a 13-2 game. The Pride and Blazers exchanged tallies throughout the rest of the period as Regis held on for the 16-5 victory.

For the game, Regis held a 33-10 advantage in shots, while taking 17 of a possible 23 draw controls. Both teams grabbed 24 ground balls, while Regis won the turnover battle with only 14 missteps to Elms' 20.

Adding onto Busiek and Politis' 11 combined goals, Sashae Walls added two of her own with Ellie Healy (South Burlington, Vt.) and Lindsay Graver each adding a score. Busiek and Politis also helped out with ball control as Politis added a team-high six groundballs and eight draw controls to go with three caused turnovers, while Busiek had five ground balls and three draw controls. Andrea Barbosa added an assist and five groundballs. Meghan Ryan (Stow, Mass.) made four saves en route to her fourth win of the year.

Elms was led by Mazza's two tallies with Katilyn Harrington (East Longmeadow, Mass.), Brianna Lyons (Canton, Mass.) and Kayla Narey (South Hadley, Mass.) also adding goals. Harrington and Narey grabbed two draw controls apiece, while Emily Walsh (Hadley, Mass.) and Narey each had four groundballs. Rachel Schrutt (Chicopee, Mass.) made nine saves and grabbed a game-high seven groundballs in net for the Blazers.

Regis looks to extend its winning streak to four games on Tuesday night when the Pride travel to Salem, Mass. for a 7:00 p.m. matchup with Salem State. Elms continues the search for its first win of the season with a 4:00 p.m. game on Tuesday afternoon at Daniel Webster.
