WINTHROP, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) has announced its postseason awards, as voted on by the head women's basketball coaches. The Regis Pride Women's Basketball team earned recognition with Madi Zancan (Cumberland, R.I.) earning a spot on the All-GNAC Third Team and Bella George (Lynnfield, Mass.) being named to the GNAC Sportsmanship Team.
Madi Zancan, a junior forward, was honored with a spot on the All-GNAC Third Team after averaging 15.6 points on 44% shooting and 7.6 rebounds per game, ranking ninth in the conference for scoring. She reached double digits in 21 of her 25 games this season, including an impressive stretch where she scored 23 or more points in four consecutive contests, highlighted by her 27-point outing against Albertus Magnus on February 15th. Zancan also made history this season, surpassing 1,000 career points with a dominant 21-point and 15-rebound effort in the Pride's win over Mitchell College.
Sophomore guard Bella George earned a spot on the GNAC Women's Basketball All-Sportsmanship Team. George played in 17 games for the Pride, contributing positively in every appearance with at least one notable statistic.
Zancan's selection to the Third Team marks her third all-conference accolade of her career, while George's appearance on the Sportsmanship Team is her first.
