Regis Falls to Emmanuel, 70-54

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College could not completely rally from its deficit, losing to Emmanuel College, 70-54, Wednesday night in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's basketball game at Higgins Court.

Madi Zancan (Cumberland R.I.) notched her sixth double-double of the season, leading the Pride with 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Courtney Doherty (Willimantic, Conn.) collected 14 points, two rebounds, and four assists.

Emmanuel outscored the Pride 13-8 in the first quarter, however Regis bounced back with two consecutive three-pointers from Jordyn Striggles (Raynham, Mass.) and Erika Marinelli (Point Pleasant, N.J.), would create a clean slate at 21 points. Both teams went point for point until a three-pointer from the Saints extended their lead 29-28, heading into halftime.

The Saints opened the third quarter with a 7-2 scoring run to lead with ten points at 42-32. Consistent free throws from Doherty and Zancan would increase the Pride's offense, however, Emmanuel finished the third quarter, leading 54-39.

Regis enhanced its offense in the final quarter of action, with Zancan scoring 11 of 15 points made. Despite its push, the Pride could not hold on as Emmanuel clinched the conference victory with a 70-54 final.

Lia Krumian led the Saints with 15 points and five rebounds, while Paris Atuahen contributed 12 points and five rebounds for Emmanuel.

Regis (4-13, 3-4 GNAC) is set to host Lasell on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 1:00 p.m., while Emmanuel (9-9, 4-3 GNAC) is scheduled to host Dean College on Saturday, Feb. 1, starting at 3:00 p.m.
