Stone Wins Third GNAC Player of the Week Award

WINTHROP, Mass. - For the third time already this season, Regis (Mass.) women's basketball senior Brittany Stone (West Bridgewater, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Week. The announcement came from the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Stone averaged a double-double with 25.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game, leading the Pride to a 2-0 week. Stone scored 18 points in just 14 minutes as the Pride rolled to a 76-54 win over GNAC foe Anna Maria on Monday night, but her strongest performance came on Thursday night. In non-conference action against Framingham State, Stone scored 33 points, 23 in the second half, and pulled down 18 rebounds, capped off by the game-winning layup with 10 seconds to go, as the Pride defeated the Rams 83-81 to move above .500 for the first time this season at 4-3.

In addition to Stone's weekly award, junior Sam D'Angelo (Woburn, Mass.), who averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds per game on the week, earned a spot on the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll.

Stone, D'Angelo and the rest of the Pride will be off until after Christmas, but return to action on December 30 when they travel to Southern Maine for a matchup against the Huskies.
