BENNINGTON, Vt. – The Regis (Mass.) women's basketball team stayed perfect in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play on Saturday afternoon, after beating Southern Vermont College 67-29 at the Mountaineer Athletic Center.

Regis ran out to a comfortable 39-13 lead at the halftime break and continued to pad its upper hand until the final horn.

The Mountaineers (1-13, 1-8 NECC) are back at home on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. NECC tilt against Newbury College while the Pride (10-5, 9-0 NECC) visit Wheelock College the same night for a 7:30 p.m. league start.

Southern Vermont freshman Taylor Mallett (Berwick, Maine) tied the team-high of six points and the game-high of three assists while grabbing four rebounds, and senior Abbi Molner (Wilmington, Vt.) provided another six points and three boards. Freshman Sarah Poirier (Ferrisburgh, Vt.) had five points off the Mountaineer bench in the effort.

Regis junior Brittany Stone (West Bridgewater, Mass.) recorded a game-best 13 points while grabbing 10 rebounds for the double-double, and classmate Linsay Bumila (Raynham, Mass.) also had a double-double with 12 points and a game-leading 14 boards. Senior Mikayla Murphy (Attleboro, Mass.) had a well-rounded afternoon, tallying seven points, seven rebounds, four steals and three assists.

The Pride connected on 39.1 percent (25-64) of their field goal attempts while holding SVC to a 26.1 percent (12-46) clip. RC outscored Southern Vermont 38-14 in the paint and totaled 13 assists to the Mountaineers' seven.

The visitors went up 8-2 early on when Stone grabbed an offensive board and put it right back up for the second-chance bucket, and Murphy then fed sophomore Maura Russell (Braintree, Mass.) beyond the perimeter for a triple from the left side which put Regis on top 13-4. The Pride closed out the first quarter with five unanswered points and never looked back.

Mallett dropped in a nice basket during the second stanza when she sprinted around the right side of the Pride defense for a layup, but the visitors would answer and continue to click at the other end to go up 39-13 by half's end. SVC couldn't find the answer to chip away at its deficit in the final 20 minutes as Regis finished off a perfect front-end of the league schedule.
