PRIDE WOMEN RANKED 10TH IN NORTHEAST REGION BY NCAA

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's basketball team was ranked by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as the 10th overall team in the Northeast Region during first edition of the 2016 Regional Rankings released today.

Further rankings will be released next Wednesday, February 17th and the following Wednesday February 24th. The final set of rankings are set on Sunday February 28th, but aren't released to the public.

The rankings were posted by the NCAA on their official website and Pat Coleman of D3Hoops.com on his Daily Dose blog.

This is the first time any New England Collegiate Conference women's basketball team has been ranked regionally by the NCAA.

The Pride (18-3, 14-0 NECC) are having an outstanding season and earned a 65-58 victory on January 2, 2016 against the sixth ranked team in the Northeast, St. Joseph's College of Maine. Regis used a 15-0 run during the final 6:03 of the contest to secure a comeback victory over the Monks.

Regis currently ranks atop the Division III leaderboards in rebound margin, outrebounding teams by 15.9 boards a game; the squad also ranks third out of 435 ranked teams in rebounds per game with 50.43 and eighth in offensive rebounds per game (19.0).

The Crimson and Gold have also won 86 consecutive NECC regular season games dating back to the 2011-2012 season when the school first joined the conference. The NCAA record is 92 wins set by Maryville University from January 15, 2004 to February 24, 2009.
