PRIDE POST COMEBACK WIN OVER WESTERN CONN. STATE

DANBURY, Conn. - A balanced scoring attack, led by Sabree Rodriguez's (Brockton, Mass.) 18 points, was enough for Regis College to come from behind and defeat the Western Connecticut State University women's basketball team, 66-61, at Feldman Arena on Wednesday night.

Rodriguez was everywhere, collecting a game-high seven rebounds and six steals in 34 minutes of play.

The Pride, now 5-3, had four players reach double figures in the scoring column and came back from a 13-point deficit in the second half. Janaya Bradley (New Haven, Conn.) and Emilee Marro (Bedford, N.H.) each tossed in 13 points while Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine) added 12 points for the winners.

Caroline Brasa (East Hartford, Conn.) and Carly Murphy (Wolcott, Conn.) each scored 17 points to lead the Colonials, now 7-4. Brasa scored 14 points in the first half of play, but was stifled over the final stanza.

With 13:43 remaining in the game, Regis trailed, 50-37 following an old-fashioned three point play by Murphy.

Less than seven minutes later, the Pride capped off a 17-4 run with a bucket and the converted free throw from Bradley, and were able to knot the contest at 54-54.

Sciarra Brandt (Thomaston, Conn.) scored a lay-up with 2:27 left to give Western a 61-59 advantage, but the Pride would go on to score the game's final seven points down the stretch to claim the victory.

Regis will be back in action this Friday, January 4 at 6:00 p.m. as they host Colby.
