CRAWFORD SCORES SEASON-HIGH 29 POINTS IN REGIS' LATE-GAME RALLY

Weston, Mass.—The Regis College women's basketball team defeated Suffolk University Tuesday (Dec. 7) by the score of 64-52.  The Pride improves to 5-2 overall on the season while the visiting Suffolk Rams move to 3-5 overall on the season.

The Pride went point-for-point in the first half with the Rams offense before Suffolk jumped out to a slight lead. The Rams capped a six point lead when Jennifer Ruys (Wallingford, Conn./Lyman Hall HS ) drove to the paint and was fouled. The Rams continued to move the ball and control the lead throughout the first half being led by Ruys who had a team-high 8 points.

The Pride pawed back to cut the lead in half, and was led by the tough play of Stephanie Crawford (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) who went 13-of-16 from the free-throw line for game. Crawford's strong play brought the Pride to within three points. The score was 31-28 in favor of the Rams entering half time. Crawford finished with a game-high 29 points.

The second half opened with the Rams controlling the lead. The Pride was the first to score when freshman Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine/Deering) was able to convert on a pass from Crawford. The Rams fired back with a three-point play from Jacqueline Vienneau (Salem, N.H./Central Catholic). Ten minutes into the second half the Rams took a four-point lead.

The Rams lead soon dwindled as senior Sarah McNult (Hampstead, N.H./Pinkerton Academy) crashed the boards for the Pride. McNult set up Ramonas to tie the game at 41-41.
With McNult scoring 11 points in the paint, allowed Ramonas to work the low block to add 12 points of her own to the total.

The Pride's offense started to click when Crawford converted on a lay-up. This put the Pride up by two points for the first lead of the game. Vienneau fired back for the Rams with another three point shot late in the second half. This was not enough as the Pride continued to play strong defense and controlled the ball. The Pride's strong defense prevailed as they let the clock wind down to win the game by a score of 64-52.

The Pride's next match-up is Saturday (Dec. 10) against Jon Jay University at 5:00 p.m. The Rams next match-up is Thursday (Dec.9) against Curry College.
