REGIS COLLEGE HAS GOLDEN NIGHT, BRINGS DOWN WESTERN NEW ENGLAND

Weston, Mass.--Junior Stephanie Crawford (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) had a first half high of 11 points for Regis College on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor, and would lead Regis College to a 71-53 victory over The Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Western New England Tuesday. Crawford finished with a game-high 22 points and five assists.

Regis College improved to 12-10 overall and 6-4 in the TCCC. Western New England falls to 12-9, 4-6 TCCC.

Alex Chace and Claire Ramonas would continue the Pride's offensive production as each would finish with double figures. Chace added 14 points in her 20 minutes of play, including two three pointers. Ramonas had 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field.

Western New England's Emily Savino contributed five points for the Golden Bears, and made several key scores in the first half. She finished with 10 points. Ali Pessolano had a Golden Bears team-high of nine points at halftime. Pessolano finished with 12 points and shot 3-for-4 (.750) from the field.

The Golden Bears stuck within five points of Regis College for 17-minutes of the first half, before Lauren Kimble converted a three-pointer to give Regis College a 30-22 lead.

Teammate Teresa Busiek would streak down the court on a fast break following a steal by Crawford to score for Regis. Though both teams played in similar fashion through the first 20 minutes of the game, Regis College took advantage of Western New England's 12 turnovers to score 12 points. In comparison, the Golden Bears tallied just two points off nine Regis College turnovers.

Regis finished with 17 points in the paint, while Western New England added 10 more points to its first half total. The Pride dominated in the paint, scoring 32 total points. Western New England got offensive help from its bench. The Golden Bears tallied 26 bench points, four more than Regis College.

Regis College shot an impressive 46 percent (5-for-11) from behind the three-point line for the first 27 minutes of the game. The Pride finished 7-for-19 (.368).

Western New England would shoot better from the three-point arc, shooting shot 50 percent (4-for-8). Pessolano and Savino each scored from behind the arc.

The two teams found success from the free-throw line. Western New England converted 13-for-17 (.765). Pessolano was 5-for-6 (.833), while Elena Radzikowki was 4-for-5 (.800), and Savion shot 3-for-4 (.750).

Crawford managed 63 percent of Regis' free-throw attempts. She went 10-for-13 (.769) at the line, while the team finished 16-for-25.

Regis College also held a steadfast grasp of the rebounds, collecting 36 total boards to the Golden Bears 27. Regis also held a 13-6 advantage on the offensive end, while tying in defensive rebounds (23).

The two programs will return to the court this week. Western New England will host Westfield State (Feb. 10), while Regis College travels to TCCC opponent Roger Williams (Feb. 12).
