MCNULT TALLIES 1,000TH CAREER REBOUND VERSUS COLBY COLLEGE

WESTON, Mass.—Sarah McNult (Hampstead, N.H./Pinkerton Academy) grabbed her 1,000th career rebound Tuesday night in a 69-56 Regis College (9-8, 3-2 TCCC) loss to Colby College (13-3, 2-1 NESCAC).

McNult entered the game needing just 13 rebounds to total 1,000 for her career. At intermission she had 10 rebounds with the Regis College women’s basketball team down 31-27. McNult finished the game with a team-high 19 points and 19 rebounds, along with her 11th double-double of the season. She currently ranks 10th in the country in double-doubles with 11.

Two other Regis College player’s finished with double figures Tuesday. Brittany White (Dorchester, Mass./New Mission) and Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine/Deering) each finished with 14 points. Ramonas added seven rebounds, while shooting 6-of-10 (.600) from the field.

Regis College shot just shy of 40 percent from the field, making 21-of-53 (.396) of its attempts. The Pride scored 38 points from within the paint, and another 16 off of Colby’s 12 turnovers. The team also held a six-point advantage (11-5) in second-chance scoring opportunities. Regis College would also step to the charity stripe 21 times, making 14-of-21 (.667).

Given that Regis College held a 40-23 lead in rebounds, the team was unable to hold Colby’s five scorers from tallying double figures. Considering the 13-point loss, Regis College stayed within five-points of Colby until 10:24 in the second half.

McNult had cut the lead to 44-42 at 11:13 in the second following a made jumper. Three Mule players would convert baskets to increase the lead to nine. Following a missed lay-up by White turned into a converted three-pointer by Aarika Ritche (Lee, Maine/Lee Academy) gave Colby a 15-point lead.

White would make a lay-up on a fast break following a steal to cut the lead to 13. Colby would run out the clock to end the game 69-56. Regis College will travel the University of New England (Jan. 27) before returning home January 29 to host Wentworth.
