Ellery Rasmussen Named GNAC Softball Player of Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – After leading the Regis College softball team to three victories during the team's Spring Break trip to Florida, senior Ellery Rasmussen (Kingston, N.H.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Softball Player of the Week, announced Monday by the league office.

Rasmussen earned at least one hit in all eight games during the trip over the past week. In the season-opener against St. Vincent, she went 3-for-5 with a double and four RBI. She drove in two runs per game in each of Regis' next four contests as she finished the week with 14 RBI.

Last Wednesday, Rasmussen hit a home run in each of the team's games, including in the Pride's 4-0 victory over Rosemont. In the trip finale against Rose-Hulman, she went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored, including the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh as she started the two-out rally with a single.

During the entire trip, Rasmussen batted .438 (14-for-32) as she immediately moved to the top of the GNAC statistical standings in hits (14), doubles (4), home runs (2), and runs batted in (14). She also kept the Regis defense steady throughout the week, making just one error in 25 chances.

This is the second career GNAC weekly honor for Rasmussen, as she previously earned Player of the Week honors April 15, 2019, after batting .846 (11-for-13) in consecutive league doubleheaders. She received First Team All-GNAC recognition last season after batting .414 with 10 doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 13 runs batted in.

The Regis College softball team, 3-5 on the Florida swing, returns to action Saturday, March 21, with a doubleheader against Fisher College starting at 1 p.m. The Pride will also host Fitchburg State in a twinbill Sunday, March 22, beginning at 12 p.m.
