McLellan Named NECC Rookie of the Week

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Two-time New England Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week Madi McLellan (Fremont, N.H.) added to an impressive freshman year resume on Monday, as she was named NECC Rookie of the Week.

It is the first time this season that McLellan has received the honor. Twice previously she won the NECC Pitcher of the Week award and once the ECAC Pitcher of the Week Award.

McLellan allowed just one earned run in 21 innings pitched on the week for the Pride. The freshman had a one-hitter in game two of Saturday’s doubleheader against Becker, in which she combined for 24 strikeouts in the two games. Regis went 1-1 on Saturday losing just 1-0 in the first game off an unearned run. McLellan tallied a 10-1 strikeout to walk ratio in three appearances on the week.

After the strong week, McLellan finds herself tied for second in the conference with 10 wins, while her 118 strikeouts and 1.59 ERA lead the NECC.

McLellan and the third-seeded Pride will open postseason play on Tuesday afternoon, hosting #6 Elms in the First Round of the NECC Tournament. First pitch from Regis Field is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
