PRIDE DROP TWO ON DAY ONE OF FLORIDA TRIP

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Regis College softball team suffered a pair of setbacks on Monday night, falling 9-0 in five innings to St. Vincent College and 7-1 to the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

In the first game of the day, the Pride received hits from Alyssa McKinnon (Raynham, Mass.) and Sam Bliss (Framingham, Mass.) in the loss to St. Vincent.

Kirbie Garvey (Littleton, Mass.) suffered the loss on the hill for the Pride, tossing two innings and giving up eight runs, five earned. Bliss pitched the final three innings, allowing only one earned run and three hits while striking out three.

In game two, the Pride bats woke up as Rachel DesRochers (Westford, Mass.), Rachel Tortora (Malden, Mass.), Allison Caloggero (Medford, Mass.) and Alexis Charest (Chatham, Mass.) each picked up their first collegiate hits. McKinnon added another hit for Regis, while Caloggero scored the first run of the year for the Pride.

Katie Cuozzo (Lynn, Mass.) pitched six innings, allowing seven runs (four earned) on nine hits with four strikeouts.

The Pride (0-2) return to action on Tuesday morning, taking on Grove City at 11:00 a.m. and following that up with a 1:00 p.m. contest against Ohio Northern.
