FOUNTAIN AND GARVEY NAMED ALL-NECC

WESTON, Mass. – A pair of freshmen on the Regis College softball team have been named to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) All-NECC Teams, it was announced by the league's offices on Monday afternoon. Pitcher/infielder Haley Fountain (Warren, Mass.) was named to the All-NECC First Team, while outfielder Kirbie Garvey (Littleton, Mass.) was named to the All-NECC Second Team. The postseason honors are determined by a vote of the coaches in the conference.

Fountain wasted little time in making an impact for the Pride as she played in all 35 games this season. The freshman finished the year with 11 runs, 36 hits, nine doubles, one triple, one homerun, 18 RBIs, and a .396 batting average, while also earning six wins from the mound after pitching 102.1 innings and striking out 89 on the season. Fountain ranked among the leaders in the NECC in several categories, including seventh in doubles and third in strikeouts, while also sporting the eighth best batting average and fourth best on base percentage (.486). Additionally, her nine doubles and one homerun led the Pride.

Garvey was named to the Second Team after a standout rookie campaign in which she played in 34 games and led the Pride in at-bats (105), runs (22), hits (45), triples (5), homeruns (1), RBIs (22), stolen bases (8), and hitting (.429). Garvey made her mark in the NECC as well as the country, as her five triples on the season ranked 1st in the conference and 22nd in all of NCAA Division III. In the NECC, she also ranked seventh in hits, sixth in total bases (64), sixth in on base percentage (.465), and had the second best batting average.

Regis College wrapped up the season with a 12-23 overall mark, the program's highest win total since the 2006 season.
