GARVEY SCORES SECOND NECC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK HONORS

WESTON, Mass. – For the second consecutive week, Regis College freshman pitcher Kirbie Garvey (Littleton, Mass.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week for softball, as announced by the league's offices on Monday morning. Garvey batted .650 this past week and helped the Pride finish with a 3-3 mark.

Garvey was 4-for-6 in a split with Mount Ida on Tuesday; she had two doubles, an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base. On Friday evening, Garvey went 3-for-6 in a split with Lesley. Her homerun and two run-double helped the Pride defeat the Lynx, 5-4 in the second game of the doubleheader. The win snapped Lesley's 42 game winning streak in NECC regular season play, which dated back to April 27, 2010.

Garvey closed out the week by finishing 6-for-8 in a doubleheader split with NECC opponent Bay Path. The freshman scored three runs and added an RBI for the Pride.

Garvey and the Regis softball team (7-13, 4-4 NECC) will next host Fitchburg State for a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday, April 11, with game times scheduled for 5:00 and 7:00 p.m.
