REGIS COLLEGE EARNS FIRST WIN OF SEASON VERSUS NEWBURY
WESTON, Mass.—Regis College tallied a season-high 12 runs Friday to defeat Newbury College 12-8 in non-conference softball. Regis College (1-12, 0-2 TCCC) had 11 hits and 10 runs batted in as a team. Hope Benjamin (Rochester, Mass.) had a team-high five RBIs, and scored two runs in five at bats. She also had her third homerun of the season.

Kara Donovan (Woburn, Mass./Arlington Catholic) and Kendra Abram (Acushnet, Mass./Bishop Connolly) each scored three runs for Regis. Abram was 2-for-4 at the plate, and finished with one RBI.

Donovan and Amanda Carlson (Ayer, Mass./Ayer) both hit doubles in Regis’ win. Carlson was 2-for-4 batting, and contributed two runs.

The Pride opened the game with two runs in the first inning, and held Newbury scoreless for four innings. Regis College tallied eight runs in those four innings then tacked on three more runs in the sixth for good measure.

Abram earned her first win of the season. In the seven innings she pitched she allowed 11 hits, 8 runs, committed four errors, and struck-out five batters.

The Pride will return to action Saturday to host The Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Endicott in doubleheader action beginning at noon.
