BENJAMIN SMACKS LATE HOME RUN VERSUS EASTERN NAZARENE

WESTON, Mass.—Hope Benjamin (Rochester, Mass.) hit a three-run homerun in the sixth inning to close in on Eastern Nazarene College, and the Pride tallied several more runs in the seventh inning, but its efforts were not enough to win either of its doubleheader games versus The Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Wednesday. Eastern Nazarene downed Regis College 10-2 (Game 1) and 10-9 (Game 2).

Hannah Moore (Sheridan, Calif./Valley Christian) scored three runs on the day for Eastern Nazarene, and batted 2-for-4 and 1-for-3, respectively. She pitched one inning of the second game, allowing three hits.

Regis’ Benjamin scored a team best two runs batted in (RBI), went 2-for-4 in game two. Teammate Amanda Carlson (Ayer, Mass.) made a diving save late in the game to keep Eastern Nazarene from closing the door on the Pride in the top of the fifth inning.

Carlson scored a run, batted 1-for-4, and had three putouts for the Pride.

The Lions offense was consistent and productive through the first three innings of both games. The team scored at least three runs in the first inning of both games, and tacked on five runs in the top of the third in game two. Defensively, Eastern Nazarene held Regis College to score just one run in five innings in game one, and four runs in game two.

The trio also scored three runs, with Giberson and Clinkscale each scoring three RBIs.
