PRIDE READY TO COMPETE AT GENE CUSIC CLASSIC

Weston, Mass.—The Regis College softball team will be traveling to Fort Myers, Florida Monday (Mar. 7) to compete in the Gene Cusic Classic. The Pride will play ten games in the classic which is being held at the Northwest Cape Coral Sports Complex. 

The Pride returns four seniors, Rachel Cavella (West Roxbury, Mass./Fontbonne Academy),  Hope Benjamin (Rochester, Mass./Old Rochester Regional), Amanda Carlson (Ayer, Mass./Ayer) and Shannon Hurley (Billerica, Mass./Arlington Catholic) . They will look to the lead the Pride as they start the season in Fort Myers.

 The Pride is set to play double-headers on each day, which will be a good warm-up for the 2011 regular season. The Pride will have its first contest of the classic against Olivet College and take on Northland College later in the day.  On the second day the Pride will compete against Drew University and Hiram College. 

After two days of competition the Pride will take on Kenyon College and Dominican (Ill.) for a solid midweek match-up. Thursday and Friday will be solid games for the Pride as they take on SUNY Potsdam and New Jersey City. 

The Pride will wrap-up play in Fort Myers Friday (Mar. 10) against Rockford College and Ohio Wesleyan University. 

The Pride's first home game will be a double header against Eastern Nazarene College Wednesday (Mar. 23) at 3:00 p.m.
