Robert Wood Repeats as GNAC Men’s Swim Rookie of Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – For the second consecutive week, Regis College freshman Robert Wood (Cathedral City, Calif.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for men's swimming and diving, announced Monday by the league office.

Wood continues to establish himself as one of Regis' top swimmers in his first collegiate season. At Saturday's Roger Williams Invitational, he first anchored the 200 medley relay that finished fourth, posting a 50 free split of 24.51 seconds.

Wood then finished ninth in the 200 individual medley in 2:11.72, 10th in the 100 backstroke in 1:03.91, and 13th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.39. He also anchored the 400 freestyle relay that finished second, posting a 100 free split of 52.64 seconds.

The Regis College swimming and diving teams opens their home competition schedule Saturday, Oct. 26, against Bridgewater State, with the women's team also facing Eastern Connecticut State. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. at the Regis Pool within the athletics center.
