Pride Swim and Dive Starts Busy Weekend on Winning Note

WENHAM, Mass. - The Regis College swimming and diving team swept its competitions Friday evening, as the women defeated both Gordon College, 99-97, and Elms College, 115-75, while the men's team prevailed over Gordon, 81-64.

On the men's side, Aryaman Nagaraj (Watertown, Mass.) collected two individual event victories, finishing first in the 200 freestyle in 1:59.09 and in the 100 freestyle in 52.21 seconds, just ahead of Casey Whittaker (Topsham, Maine) at 52.53 seconds. Whittaker did finish first in two events as well, winning the 50 freestyle in 24.38 seconds and the 500 freestyle in 5:30.18.

After placing right behind Whittaker in the 50 freestyle in 25.12 seconds, Cody Werner (Bettendorf, Iowa) won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:11.98, followed by Samuel Madriz (Union, N.J.) in 2:22.99. Ryan Kim (Los Angeles, Calif.) cruised to victory in the 200 breaststroke by over five seconds with a time of 2:22.63.

For the women, Megan Miller (Quincy, Mass.) finished first in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:28.85, while Riley Aptt (Woburn, Mass.) placed second in 2:30.10. Aptt would go on to win the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:33.67. In addition, Miller and Aptt teamed with Abby Parker (Peru, Mass.) and Olivia Luhnau (Castle Rock, Colo.) to post a time of 2:07.80 in the 200 medley relay.

Luhnau also finished second in both the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:01.80 and the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:01.88. Parker would touch the wall second in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 3:05.18, while Ava Hubster (Crown Point, Ind.) finished second in the 1000 freestyle in 12:38.86 and the 200 butterfly in 2:46.39.

The Regis College swimming and diving team quickly turns around and heads to Bristol, R.I., for the Roger Williams Invitational Saturday, Oct. 28, starting at 11 a.m.
