WESTON, Mass. - Regis (Mass.) swimming & diving seniors Cassidy Bastianelli (Newton, Mass.) and Kiet Luong (Malden, Mass.) have been named to the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association Preseason All-Conference Team.

Both swimmers are coming off impressive junior seasons in the pool. The pair was half of the relay team that took home first place and a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference record in last season’s 200 Yard Medley Relay and 400 Yard Freestyle Relay at the conference championships, turning in times of 1:39.21 and 3:18.35, respectively.

Individually, Bastianelli took home first place in the 200 Yard Freestyle at the GNACs last season, breaking his own GNAC record with a time of 1:46.45 in the final.

Luong finished with the fastest time all season in the entire NEISDA in 2015-16 when he recorded a time of 0:49.56 in the 100 Yard Butterfly at the ECAC Championships in February. He won the same event at the GNAC Championships, as the 50 Yard Backstroke, 200 Yard Backstroke and 100 Yard Individual Medley.

Bastianelli, Luong and the rest of the men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams kick off their season at the Regis Pool on October 15, when they host University of New England. The meet is scheduled to get under way at 11:00 a.m.
