EIGHT RECORDS FALL ON DAY 2 OF ECAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Regis College men's and women's swimming and diving teams had another strong day in the pool on Saturday, breaking eight school records on day two of the ECAC Championships held at the University of Pittsburgh.

For the men, Kiet Luong (Malden, Mass.) broke his own school record in the 100 yard butterfly in the prelims with a time of 49.66 to qualify for the finals on Saturday night. In that race, Luong broke the record again, posting a time of 49.30, which is the 27th fastest time in the country. His 50 fly time in the first half of that race was also a school record (23.01). Luong had similar results in the 100 yard backstroke, breaking his own record in the prelims (51.44) and then breaking it again in the finals (51.07).

The 400 yard medley relay team of Luong, A.J. Graf (Newton, Mass.), Nick Rainville (Reading, Mass.), and Cassidy Bastinelli (Newton, Mass.) broke the school record by five seconds with a time of 3:35.66. That same team, this time with Graf swimming the first leg, broke the school record in the 800 yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:05.94, taking an amazing 24 seconds off last year's time.

In the 200 yard freestyle, Bastinelli set a new school record with a time of 1:47.71. Graf and Rainville also had strong swims in that event, with Rainville also posting a strong time in the 100 yard butterfly.
