PRIDE SWEEP BLAZERS ON SENIOR DAY

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept the Elms College Blazers in a dual meet on Friday night in Weston, Mass. The women posted a 139-109 victory over the Blazers, while the men were victorious 145-95.

In a pre-meet ceremony, the Pride honored their six seniors in A.J. Graf (Newton, Mass.), Greg Sarantakis (Lowell, Mass.), Haley Bowen (Litchfield, N.H.), Amber Centeno (Westfield, Mass.), Ana Kudsi (Dover-Foxcroft, Maine), and Shannan O'Neil (Lowell, Mass.) for their contributions to Regis College and its athletic department.

The women started off the meet with a win in the 200 yard medley relay as Jessica Higgins (Peabody, Mass.), Lucia Llorente Ruiz (Newton, Mass.), Amanda Iandoli (Mansfield, Mass.), and Ashlyn DeRoche (North Reading, Mass.) posted a time of 2:04.06. DeRoche later added wins in the 1,000 yard freestyle (12:40.87), and 100 yard freestyle (59.66), while Jessica Higgins had wins in the 200 yard freestyle (2:15.54), 50 yard backstroke (30.56), and 100 yard backstroke (1:06.30).

The senior duo of Haley Bowen and Shannan O'Neil combined to post five wins on the day as Bowen took home the top times in the 50 yard breaststroke (33.46), 100 yard breaststroke (1:17.25), and 500 yard freestyle (5:55.76). O'Neil grabbed wins in the 100 yard butterfly (1:08.94) and 50 yard butterfly (30.24).

For Elms, Erika Aponte (Palmer, Mass.) grabbed a win in the 50 yard freestyle, with Abbey Will (Hopkinton, Mass.) adding a win in the 100 yard individual medley. The 200 yard freestyle medley relay team of Kim Panetta (Belchertown, Mass.), Rachael Coleman (West Hartford, Conn.), Mackenzie Marsters (Somers, Conn.), and Aislinn Carrier (Charlestown, Mass.) posted a victory with a time of 2:01.28.

On the men's side, the 200 yard medley relay team of Cassidy Bastinelli (Newton, Mass.), Mike Panagiotakos (Methuen, Mass.), Kiet Luong (Malden, Mass.), and Robert Ekberg (Northbridge, Mass.) began the day with the top time of 1:47.74. Bastinelli picked up a pair of freestyle wins in the 50 free (28.12) and 200 free (1:52.50), while Mike Panagiotakos posted the top time in the 50 yard breaststroke (32.03).

Kiet Luong had three wins on the day in the 100 yard butterfly (52.42), 100 yard backstroke (57.12), and 50 yard butterfly (25.21). Michael Bruno (Winthrop, Mass.) won the 1,650 yard freestyle with a time of 18:45.25.

For the seniors, A.J. Graf had wins in the 50 yard freestyle (22.72) and 100 yard freestyle (51.12). Greg Sarantakis posted strong times in the 100 yard butterfly (1:01.56) and 50 yard butterfly (27.78).

Elms was paced by a win in the 100 yard breaststroke by Misha Kuyuzov (Swampscott, Mass.) with a time of 1:10.13. Nick Cirillo (Gloversville, N.Y.) added a win in the 500 yard freestyle (5:11.79), while Nick Bergstrom (Derry, N.H.) had a win in the 100 yard individual medley (59.67). The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Mike DiPasquale (Meriden, Conn.), D.J. Sherman (Winsted, Conn.), Rick Giordano (Agawam, Mass.), and Niels Thomsen (Southington, Conn.) rounded out the meet with a time of 1:45.95 for the top time.

The Crimson and Gold return to action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Eastern Connecticut State for a meet with the Warriors and Bridgewater State University starting at 1:00 p.m.
