PRIDE MEN SHOCK CHARGERS 145.50-81.50

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving shipped off to Simmons College on Saturday afternoon to take part in a tri-meet with the Men squaring off against Colby-Sawyer College and the Women taking on the host Sharks. The Men earned a 145.50-81.50 victory over the Chargers while the Women were defeated by the Sharks 197-54.

For the men, the 400 medley relay team of Kiet Luong (Malden, Mass.), A.J. Graf (Newton, Mass.), Greg Sarantakis (Lowell, Mass.) and Cassidy Bastianelli (Newton, Mass.) took home the top time at 4:00.20. Luong, Graf and Bastianelli also took individual events as well with Luong taking the 50 yard backstroke (26.93), 200 yard backstroke (2:01.86) and the 50 yard fly (24.82). Graf took the 50 yard breast finishing the race in 29.09 and he also finished first during the 50 yard freestyle race with a time of 23.17. The final member of the trio, Bastianelli, competed in the 500 yard freestyle and finished with a time of 5:08.56.

Two other members of the men's team that fared against the Chargers. Nicholas Rainville (Reading, Mass.), placed first in three events; the 200 yard freestyle (1:56.76), the 200 yard fly (2:14.08) and the 100 yard free style (51.76). Teammate Michael Bruno (Winthrop, Mass.) also earned a win during the 1000 yard freestyle finishing the competition with a time of 11:08.59.

On the women's side Haley Bowen (Litchfield, N.H.) and Jessica Higgins (Peabody, Mass.) had two top-three finishes. Bowen took the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:34.39 and also finished the 50 yard breast in second place with a time of (32.78). Higgins had two second place finishes, the first was in the 200 yard backstroke (2:23.66) and the second was in the 500 yard freestyle (5:52.91).

Both teams return to the pool next Saturday when the Pride host the Blazers of Elms College for a meet that starts at 1:00 p.m.
