PRIDE BREAK 6 RECORDS AT ECAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Regis College men's swimming & diving team broke six records and achieved the program's second NCAA B qualifying time on the second day of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships on Saturday.

The 200 yard Medley Relay had a school record performance, while freshman Kiet Luong (Malden, Mass.) led the relay off in a school record time of 23.75 in the 50 yard Back.

Luong also broke the Regis record in the 100 yard Fly (8th place) and 100 yard Back (10th place), while registering a NCAA B qualifying time in the Fly. His finish in the Fly marked the first top eight finalist for the men's program. He was able to shave over a second off in each race from his NEISDA Championship performances.

Later in the day, the Medley Relay team re-broke their school record from preliminaries and took over a second off from the NEISDA Championships. Luong also re-broke his preliminary time from the 50 Back, coming in with a time of 23.69, which was also more than a second faster than New England Championships.

Also competing individually for the Pride was junior Alex Graf (Newton, Mass.), who raced in the 200 yard Free.

"Today the men did a tremendous job. They really stepped up even more and swam super fast re-breaking multiple school records, and scoring in the finals in multiple events. There toughness and determination to succeed has been awesome," said head coach James Sweeney.

Day Three of the ECAC Championships kick-off tomorrow.
