REGIS SWIMS PAST BEARS, 111-78

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - The Bridgewater State University men's swimming and diving team dropped a 111-78 decision to Regis College on Friday night at the Mary Jo Moriarty Pool in Bridgewater. The meet marked the home opener for Bridgewater (0-2) and the first dual meet of the season for Regis (1-0).

Freshmen Zachary Earl (Mexico, N.Y.) and Alexander Graf (Newton, Mass.), and junior Darren Laforest (Roslindale, Mass.) each won a pair of individual events for the visiting Pride. Earl placed first in the 1,000 freestyle (11:02.45) and 500 freestyle (5:19.34), Graf was the first to touch the wall in the 200 freestyle (1:54.28) and 100 freestyle (50.83), and Laforest was the top finisher in the 50 freestyle (24.29) and 100 butterfly (1:01.24).

Bridgewater State senior Philip Tully (Cedar Grove, N.J.) picked up the Bears' lone win of the night as he posted a time of 2:17.25 in the 200 individual medley. Tully also grabbed a pair of second place finishes in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.00) and 200 freestyle (2:08.19).

Regis returns to action on Saturday afternoon when the Pride takes on the University of New England on Saturday afternoon.
