WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's lacrosse team stepped away from Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play this afternoon, hosting the Thomas College Terriers at Regis Stadium. Thomas surged in the fourth quarter, scoring six goals to complete a 12-11 comeback victory to drop the Pride to 1-6 on the season.
Anthony Marsella (Johnston, R.I.) led the Pride with five goals and one assist, while Jack Jaynes (Reading, Mass.) added three goals and an assist. Defensively, Colin McGarry (Brookline, N.H.) grabbed six ground balls and caused five turnovers while Devin Hammon (Chicopee, Mass.) turned away 13 shots.
The Terriers were led by Timothy Worster who had four goals while Wyatt Lyons added three goals and Owen Lyons dished out four assists to go along with a goal.
How it Happened:
- The game was tied at one just eight minutes in before Jaynes and Marsella each found the back of the net, closing out the opening frame and giving the Pride a 3-1 lead.
- Wyatt Lyons would cut the Prides' lead in half (4-2), but Marsella and Jaynes had the answer. Marsella capitalized on a pass from Jaynes at the 6:34 mark to push the lead to 5-2, and Jaynes added another with 21 seconds left in the half, sending Regis into the break up 6-2.
- Marsella netted three goals in the third quarter, keeping his team ahead 10-6 entering the final frame.
- Worster started the fourth with back-to-back goals, but Jaynes quickly responded with one of his own, extending the Pride's lead to three. From there, the Terriers took over, scoring three straight to tie the game at 11 before Worster netted the game-winner with 3:28 remaining, sealing a 12-11 victory for Thomas.
