Regis Unable to Prevent Emmanuel's Offensive Run

BOSTON, Mass. – Regis Pride men's lacrosse fell to Emmanuel College on the road, 15-7, at Roberto Clemente field on Saturday. With the loss, the Pride drop to 1-5 while the Saints improve to 3-5.

Brendan Cook (Billerica, Mass.) led the Pride with three goals, followed by Jack Jaynes (Reading, Mass.) with two goals and four groundballs, while Matt Cabassa (Weymouth, Mass.) and Anthony Marsella (Johnston, R.I.) contributed one goal each. On defense, Dylan Slichko (Wynantskill, N.Y.) led the way with two caused turnovers, while goalie Devin Hammon (Chicopee, Mass.) coined 15 saves in net.

For Emmanuel, Cooper Mehlhorn scored six goals, while nine other players contributed one goal apiece. Defensively, Evan Decker caused four turnovers and scooped up one ground ball while Colby Enos made four saves before Jake Reeves entered the match just over halfway through to record two saves for the Saints.

How it Happened:

  • The Saints jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, sparked by goals from Mehlhorn and Ryan Etzo, before Marsella responded with a goal six seconds later at 10:04 on a pass from Cook.  

  • Emmanuel then outscored the Pride 8-2 to lead 10-3 into the break.

  • The Saints extended its offensive output registering three additional goals before Marsella met Cook with a pass to close its deficit to nine. Emmanuel responded to outscore Regis 2-1, to increase its lead 15-5 heading into the final frame.

  • In the fourth, Regis added two goals courtesy of Cabassa and Jaynes to finish behind at 15-7, sealing the Saints victory at Roberto Clemente field.

Inside the Numbers:

  • Marsella tied his season high of two ground balls while Slichko collected a season high of two caused turnovers.
