Deveau, Harney, Sweeney Named to NEILA All-Academic Team

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Three key members of the 2023-24 Regis College men's lacrosse team have been selected to the 2024 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Division III All-Academic Team, announced by the organization Thursday, June 27.

In order to be eligible for selection to the NEILA All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have posted at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, must have been a senior or graduate student during the 2024 season with no plans to use their remaining eligibility in New England, and must have been an impact player for their team.

Connor Deveau (Harwich, Mass.) appeared in all 14 matches for the Pride in 2024, including one start. He collected a career-high 14 points on 11 goals and three assists, including at least one goal in each of the last five matches of the season, along with 13 groundballs and five caused turnovers. A team captain this past season, he scored twice in the team's victory at Elms March 6. Deveau was a three-time Academic All-GNAC selection who earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice.

Owen Harney (Natick, Mass.) started 13 of the 14 matches he appeared in during the 2024 lacrosse season, finishing with career-high totals of 21 groundballs and five caused turnovers for the Pride. One of the team captains for the 2023-24 season, he was selected to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Lacrosse All-Sportsmanship Team. A three-time Academic All-GNAC honoree, Harney graduated in May with his bachelor's degree in humanities and secondary education.

Zach Sweeney (Torrington, Conn.) was a two-time captain for the Pride, starting all 43 matches he appeared in during his collegiate career as a key member of the Regis defensive effort. He ended up third on the Regis career list for caused turnovers with 50 after collecting nine caused turnovers over the final four matches of the season. The 2023-24 Male Regis-Casserly Award recipient, Sweeney is a three-time Academic All-GNAC honoree who earned his bachelor's degree in dental hygiene.

In total, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) placed 48 student-athletes on the 2024 NEILA All-Academic Team, led by Norwich University with nine representatives. 178 Division III players representing 39 different institutions made an appearance on this year's squad.

Regis College sponsors 19 intercollegiate sports, including men's lacrosse, within NCAA Division III as a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
