Jack Jaynes Named GNAC MLAX Rookie of Week

WINTHROP, Mass. - For the second time this season, first-year attack player Jack Jaynes (Reading, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week as he led the Pride to two victories, as the league office announced the weekly awards Monday, April 22.

Last Wednesday against Mitchell, Jaynes finished with three goals and three assists for six total points, notching his third hat trick of the year. In addition, he tied his season high by collecting five groundballs as the Pride defeated the Mariners, 14-2.

In Saturday's 13-7 victory over Albertus Magnus, Jaynes scored a season-high five goals, all in the second half as the Pride pulled away from the Falcons after going into halftime tied at 4-4. He gave Regis the lead for good with the first two goals of the third quarter, completing the hat trick later in the period and then adding two more goals in the fourth quarter. Once again, Jaynes collected five groundballs in the match.

For the season, Jaynes leads the team with 29 goals, moving into 10th on the Regis single-season goals list, plus he has dished out 17 assists for 46 total points, tied for seventh on the Pride single-season points list. Jaynes has also accumulated 40 groundballs, third-most on the team this season, as the squad now has seven victories overall, the most for the men's lacrosse team in seven years.

Jaynes was previously named GNAC Rookie of the Week March 11 after helping the Pride to their first 3-0 start in program history with eight goals and seven assists for 15 points in the first three matches this season.
