Men's Lacrosse Earns 13-7 Senior Day Victory

WESTON, Mass. -  Regis College Men's Lacrosse extended their winning streak after defeating Albertus Magnus, 13-7, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game on Saturday, April 20, at Regis Stadium.

Just 11 seconds after a penalty was called on Albertus, Matt Cabassa (Weymouth, Mass.) scored the first Pride goal of the game after he was met with a pass from Jack Jaynes (Reading, Mass.), to lead 1-0. The Falcons responded with a goal less than two minutes later to tie the game. Nick Klein (Buxton, Maine) found the back of the net to give the Pride a one-goal advantage, just before Cooper Strecker responded with a Falcons goal to tie the match at two going into the second quarter.

Albertus took the lead in the second quarter with two consecutive goals before Regis was able to tie the match, 4-4, leading into halftime.

The Pride dominated in the third quarter, scoring the go-ahead goal less than a minute after the start of the quarter. Jaynes continued momentum scoring another goal to increase the lead to 6-4, just before the Falcons put an end to the scoring run. Rocco Albanese scored 58 seconds later, to close the gap by one for the Falcons. Regis went on a 3-1 scoring run, featuring another man-up goal, to finish out the third quarter in the lead, 8-6.

The Pride finished the final quarter with a scoring run of 5-1. After the Falcons scored their seventh goal of the game, the Pride answered with another goal to extend the lead. With just ten seconds remaining, Anthony Marsella (Johnston, R.I.) found Brendan Cook (Billerica, Mass.) to score the final goal of the game, earning a 13-7 victory.

Jaynes finished with five goals for the Pride, while Cook and Klein both earned three goals in today's match. Marsella led the Pride in assists with three.

Devin Hammon (Chicopee, Mass.) earned seven saves for the Pride playing most of the match, while Ryan Guerrette (Litchfield, N.H.) earned one save off one shot.

Regis (7-6, 3-6 GNAC) is set to travel to face Norwich University on Wednesday, April 24, at 4:00 p.m. Albertus Magnus (3-11, 1-8 GNAC) is scheduled to host the University of Saint Joseph on Wednesday, April 24 with a start time of 6:00 p.m.
