Rivier Offense Overwhelms Men's Lacrosse

WESTON, Mass. - Regis College was defeated by Rivier, 20-4, Wednesday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's lacrosse action at Regis Stadium.

Matt Cabassa (Weymouth, Mass.) got the Regis offense started, scoring the first goal of the game early in the first quarter to give the Pride a 1-0 lead. Cabassa scored another unassisted goal in the second quarter, cutting through defenders for the Pride's second goal of the game.

Connor Deveau (Harwich, Mass.) scored the Pride's third goal in the third quarter, attacking from behind the net to finish the score unassisted. Cabassa earned the hat trick late in the third, scoring another unassisted goal.

Robby Fuller (Wolfeboro, N.H.) made 11 saves in goal for the Pride with Devin Hammon (Chicopee, Mass. ) coming in later in the game to finish with four saves. Samuel Tibbetts and Ryan Palmer split time in net for Rivier, combining for four saves.

Nicholas Tavares led the Raiders with five goals and one assist while Connor Eck added three goals and two assists. Sean Callinan also completed the hat trick with three goals while Michael Ference contributed two goals and seven assists. Alan Cozzolino also finished with a pair of goals.

Regis College (3-7, 0-7 GNAC) hosts Lasell on Saturday, April 15, for Senior Day beginning at 3 p.m. Rivier plays at 11 a.m. on the same day against Johnson & Wales.
