Regis Men’s Lacrosse Receives GNAC Team Sportsmanship Award

WINTHROP, Mass. – As part of the announcement of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) postseason awards in men's lacrosse Monday, May 9, Regis College received the GNAC Team Sportsmanship Award through voting by the league's head coaches.

"We are proud to be recognized with the GNAC Men's Lacrosse Team Sportsmanship Award this season," head coach Matthew Sweeney said. "Our players worked incredibly hard on and off the field this year. Most importantly, they did it the right way – sticking together through the ups and downs. We would like to thank this year's seniors, as well as the players who graduated in 2021, for setting the bar high in everything that we do."

Junior captain Ryan Richardson (Corona, Calif.) was selected as the Pride's representative on the GNAC Men's Lacrosse All-Sportsmanship Team. Starting every Regis match this season, Richardson led the Pride with 18 goals, plus he collected nine assists for a team-high 27 points. He scored a season-high four goals in contests against Salem State March 12 and GNAC champion Norwich April 16, plus he dished out three assists in the team's victory over Eastern Nazarene March 7.

"Ryan has been a tremendous leader on and off the field for our team. He sets a great example for the rest of his teammates to follow, and we are grateful that he represents all of us in the way that he does," added Sweeney.

Men's lacrosse is one of 20 intercollegiate sports sponsored by Regis College as a NCAA Division III member institution.
