Men’s Lacrosse Unable to Slow Down Emerson Offense

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College lost to Emerson College, 21-2, Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference men's collegiate lacrosse match at Regis Stadium.

Emerson jumped on the board 40 seconds into the match on a goal by Nicholas Fulgione, followed by a tally from Grant Wilson 34 seconds later. The Pride would cut the Lion lead in half on a goal by Liam Donovan (Lynn, Mass.), but Emerson closed out the first quarter with goals by Peirce Eldredge, Austin Franklin, and Alex Menendez to take a 5-1 lead into the second quarter.

The Lions extended their lead to 9-1 at halftime with four goals in the second period, and then they scored five straight goals in the third quarter to increase their advantage into double figures. Blake Hiltz (Tewksbury, Mass.) picked up the Pride's second goal of the match with 1:59 remaining in the third period, but Emerson responded with a goal by Skyler Celotto just over one minute later, followed by six goals in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring.

Emerson received scoring contributions with at least one goal or one assist from 12 different players, led by Menendez with four goals and two assists. Fulgione and Wilson also notched hat tricks with three goals apiece. Eldredge and Hunter Gervais dished out four assists each, and Birk Swan added two goals and three assists.

Making his first start in goal for the Pride, Robby Fuller (Wolfeboro, N.H.) finished with 14 saves, nine of them coming in the first quarter. Connor Nydegger received the start in net for the Lions and made one save over the first three quarters before Elijah Turbow took over for the fourth quarter and was credited with one save.

Regis College (2-4) returns to conference play with a match against University of Saint Joseph Saturday, March 26, beginning at 1 p.m. Emerson (9-1) starts its league season at Wheaton Saturday at 1 p.m.
