Pride Men’s Lacrosse Earns First Win of 2022 in Home Opener

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College took a quick lead and never relinquished it, defeating Eastern Nazarene College, 15-0, Monday night in a non-conference men's collegiate lacrosse match at Regis Stadium.

Liam Donovan (Lynn, Mass.) led the Pride with five goals along with an assist, while Anthony Marsella (Johnston, R.I.) finished with four goals and three assists. Ryan Richardson (Corona, Calif.) also dished out three assists, Blake Hiltz (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Brayden Hutchinson (Belgrade, Maine) collected five ground balls apiece, and Ian Schell (Meriden, N.H.) went 12-for-16 on faceoffs.

Richardson scored the first goal of the match 1:45 into the contest, and then Arpan Kakadia (Pembroke, N.H.) picked up a goal off an assist from Marsella. The Pride took advantage of their extra-man opportunities as Brendan Cook (Billerica, Mass.) and Marsella each scored a man-up goal in the first period.

Marsella scored three of Regis' four second period goals as the Pride extended their advantage to 9-0 heading into halftime. Donovan scored four goals in the second half for Regis, with Kakadia earning his second tally of the night and Hiltz adding a goal of his own in the third period.

Nick Penta (Andover, Mass.) finished with 12 saves, including eight saves in the fourth period as the Lions attempted to break through on the scoreboard in their first match in program history. Regis finished with a 46-28 shot advantage and went 19-for-27 on clear attempts while Eastern Nazarene finished 17-for-23 on clearing opportunities.

The Lions were led by Devano Clarke with eight total shots, including four shots on goal, and six ground balls, with Jimmy Keuther collecting six shots and four ground balls and Jamar Griggs also totaling six shots. Eastern Nazarene goalie Ryan Almeida earned 11 saves during the match.

Regis College (1-1) continues a stretch of six consecutive home matches against Salem State Saturday, March 12, starting at 1 p.m. Eastern Nazarene (0-1) hosts Emmanuel College Wednesday, March 9, beginning at 5 p.m.
