Regis Men’s Lacrosse Announces 2020 Competition Schedule

2020 REGIS COLLEGE MEN'S LACROSSE SCHEDULE

WESTON, Mass.Matthew Sweeney, first-year head coach of the Regis College men's lacrosse team, has finalized the 2020 competition schedule for the Pride, featuring seven matches at Regis Stadium in March and April.

"We are very excited about the 2020 schedule. It is set up in a way that is going to allow us to achieve the goals that our Team has set for the season," Sweeney said. "Our four nonconference games will challenge our Team early in the year. Once we get to GNAC play, we expect that every game will be a battle. This is an important time in the history of our Program, and our student-athletes are focused on getting better each and every day throughout the 2020 season."

The Pride will open the regular season Saturday, Feb. 29, in Castine, Maine, against Maine Maritime, the first-ever meeting between the two teams. Regis will return to Maine during Spring Break for a road match at Thomas College Wednesday, March 4.

The home opener for Regis takes place Wednesday, March 11, against Mitchell College, followed by a meeting with future conference rival Dean College Thursday, March 19, also at Regis Stadium.

Regis begins Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play Saturday, March 21, at Saint Joseph's College in Standish, Maine. The Pride will then host Johnson & Wales Wednesday, March 25, and Albertus Magnus Saturday, March 28.

The team starts April with three straight road contests, commencing Saturday, April 4, against defending GNAC regular season champion Lasell. The Pride then travel to New Hampshire for a matchup against Rivier Wednesday, April 8, and to Vermont to take on 2019 GNAC Tournament champion Norwich Saturday, April 11.

The Pride close out the regular season with three consecutive home games, first welcoming Emmanuel to Regis Stadium Wednesday, April 15. University of St. Joseph, a new program, comes to town Saturday, April 18, with the finale against Anna Maria to follow Wednesday, April 22.

The top eight teams in the final GNAC regular season standings will qualify for the conference tournament, starting with the quarterfinals at the top four seeds Saturday, April 25. The two highest remaining seeds will host semifinal contests Wednesday, April 29, followed by the championship match Saturday, May 2, with a berth into the NCAA Tournament on the line.

The Regis College men's lacrosse team is aiming to qualify for the GNAC Tournament for the first time since joining the league.
