Men's Lacrosse Doubles Up Mitchell In Non-Conference Win

WESTON, Mass.AJ Karofsky (Barrington, R.I.) scored a game-high four goals, Brent Young (Feeding Hills, Mass.) added two goals and five assists and the Regis (Mass.) men's lacrosse team doubled up Mitchell in a 14-7 win over the Mariners Monday afternoon at Regis Stadium.

Nick Penta (Andover, Mass.) and JJ LaRose (Litchfield, N.H.) each played a half in net for the Pride (2-2) who saw Mitchell score the game's first three goals and not get on the board until Karofsky's score from Young with 11:21 remaining in the second quarter. Kyle Marsh (Oakdale, Conn.) and Jack Dalton (Middletown, Del.) provided the offense for the Mariners (0-4) in the first quarter. Marsh opened the game with an unassisted goal and assisted on the second of Dalton's first two goals for the 3-0 lead after one quarter.

Regis responded with seven unanswered goals, three before halftime to square up the game heading to the break. Young assisted on goals from Karofsky and Michael Daras (Danvers, Mass.) with Danny Rancano (Miami, Fla.) evening the game with his goal midway through the period. 

The Pride kept it rolling in the second half. Young assisted on a pair of goals in the third quarter with Karofsky scoring three of his four, the last with 1:07 to play, to maintain control of the game.

Marsh had a solid game for the Mariners, scoring a team-high three goals while scooping up nine ground balls. His goal with 8:23 remaining in the game kept his team within striking distance at 9-6, but a pair of assists each from Rancano and Karofsky, and a goal by Collin Spillane (Franklin, Mass.) with 3:04 to play, sealed the win.

Dalton finished with two goals and three ground balls for Mitchell with Marcel Quinlan (Uniondale, N.Y.) impressive in net but receiving the loss with a 16-save effort.

Next up for Regis is a Wednesday, Mar. 21 matchup at UMass-Boston at 7:00 p.m. Mitchell visits Nichols the same day for a 4:00 p.m. face off time.
