Men's Lacrosse Tops Becker For First Win

LEICESTER, Mass. - Collin Spillane (Franklin, Mass.) scored a game-high six goals and the Regis (Mass.) men's lacrosse team led from start to finish in a 16-7 win at Becker in non-conference action Wednesday. The win gives the Pride its first win to improve to 1-1 on the season.

Freshman attacker Brent Young (Feeding Hills, Mass.) added a hat trick with three goals and two assists, while senior attacker AJ Karofsky (Barrington, R.I.) scored twice. Freshman midfielder Michael Daras (Danvers, Mass.) tallied one goal and four assists with freshman goalkeeper JJ LaRose (Litchfield, N.H.) recorded six saves in picking up his first career win.

The Hawks (0-1) were led by freshman attacker Matthew Guerin (E. Longmeadow, Mass.), who, playing in just his first career game, finished with four goals. Senior attacker Avyay Chaganty (Bridgewater, N.J.) finished with two goals while senior middle Blake Gordon (East Greenbush, N.Y. ) had two assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Trey McMillen (Grapevine, Texas) recorded 12 saves.

The Pride spread the wealth in the first quarter in building a 5-1 lead. Young and Michael Tremblay (Arlington, Mass.) opened the scoring before Spillane scored with a man advantage on an assist from Danny Rancano (Miami, Fla.). Spillane would score again with 45 seconds remaining in the period to push the lead to four goals.

Quarter two saw Regis extend the lead by one and take a 9-4 advantage heading into halftime. Young added a pair of early assists then closed the half with a goal, scoring off a pass from Daras with 1:27 remaining.

After Becker scored two minutes out of halftime, Regis score three unanswered goals, all assisted by Daras. The Pride did the same to start the fourth quarter to win going away.

Regis has two weeks off before returning to action with a host game against Mitchell at 7:00 p.m.
