WIN STREAK REACHES FOUR, PRIDE CLAW FALCONS

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's lacrosse team beat Albertus Magnus 16-4 during a rain soaked affair on Thursday afternoon on Celentano Field in New Haven, Conn. With the victory, the Pride improve to 6-1 on the year and with the loss, the Falcons remain win-less at 0-6. The win was the Crimson and Gold's fourth straight.

After battling to a 2-2 tie after the first quarter, Regis outscored the Falcons 14-2 the rest of the way.

Mike Choiniere (Bethany, Conn.) led Albertus with three goals on nine shots, while freshman Paul Mirmina (Milford, Conn.) tallied one goal on six shots.

Senior attack Peter Leighton (Wilmington, Mass.) and Alex Ferran (Miami, Fla.) led Regis with four goals apiece, while Leighton added three assists on six shots, while Nicky Rodrigo added two goals and a team-high 10 shots.

Albertus took a 2-0 lead early in the first thanks to goals from Mirmina and Choiniere. Regis tied the contest with goals by Rodrigo and Ferran to make things even going into the second quarter. Regis scored five goals in the second as Ferran netted three of his four total goals in the frame.

At the half, Albertus trailed 7-3. The Falcons held a 27-23 advantage in shots in the opening half before being outshot 22-8 in the final 30 minutes.

Regis outscored the Falcons 5-1 in the third quarter as Leighton tallied two genos.

Choiniere once again scored the Falcons' lone goal in the frame.

Leighton registered two more goals in the fourth as Regis blanked the Falcons in the frame, outscoring Albertus 4-0.

Jack Kerner (Merrick, N.Y.) picked up 15 saves in the contest for the Falcons. Regis' D.J. Barrile (Medford, Mass.) earned the win for Regis and made 12 stops in 60 minutes of work.
