SECOND PERIOD SCORING BINGE POWERS PRIDE PAST AMCATS

PAXTON, Mass.—Junior Nicky Rodrigo (Miami, Fla.) scored a game-high five goals to lead the Regis College men's lacrosse team to a 15-4 win against the AMCATS of Anna Maria College on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.

With the victory, the Pride improve to 5-1 on the year while the AMCATS fall to 1-6 after the defeat.

Anna Maria saw two goals from freshman Andrew Marcotte (Plainville, Mass.), while junior Alex Rezendes (Nantucket, Mass.) and freshman Michael Rodriguez (Cranston, R.I.) added a goal apiece.

In addition to Rodrigo, the Pride saw three goals from Calvin Brault (Colchester, Vt.) and two goals each from Jack O'Brien (Milton, Mass.) and Alex Ferran (Miami, Fla.).

The AMCATS held a 2-0 lead after the first quarter following goals by Rezendes and Marcotte. The Pride took control in the second quarter and scored five unanswered goals to take a 5-2 lead at halftime. Regis would extend their lead to 9-3 after the third quarter.

Josh Giarratano (Warwick, R.I.) earned his first win of the season in net for the Pride and made 11 saves. AMCAT goaltender Joseph Morris (Methuen, Mass.) totaled a season-best 25 saves in the loss as the Pride outshot the AMCATS 64-27 on the day.

O'Brien tallied eight ground balls for Regis while also winning 17-of-20 (85%) of face-offs. Senior Nathan Batallas (Templeton, Mass.) scooped up a game-high nine ground balls and added four caused turnovers for Anna Maria.
