WESTON, Mass. - Sophomore Nicky Rodrigo (Miami, Fla.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference's (NECC) Co-Player of the Year, while four other members of the Regis College men's lacrosse team were also honored as All-Conference selections, it was announced by the league on Monday. The Pride also received the Team Sportsmanship Award. Voting was conducted amongst the league's head coaches. 

Rodrigo, who was co-recipient of the honor with Mitchell's Demetre Lyras (Rocky Point, N.Y.), was also named to the All-Conference First Team for the second-straight year after scoring three goals and assisting on seven in three conference games this season. In overall play, Rodrigo ranked second in the NECC in goals (48), assists (29), and points (77) through 16 games played. He also added 30 ground balls and six caused turnovers. Rodrigo was twice named the NECC Player of the Week this year and was also named to Lax Magazine's weekly Honor Roll on two separate occasions. 

Joining Rodrigo on the All-NECC First Team was midfielder and face-off specialist Jack O'Brien (Milton, Mass.) and defenseman Brian Cidado (Easton, Mass.), while goalkeeper Breandan Crane (Billerica, Mass.) and attacker Peter Leighton (Wilmington, Mass.) were each named to the Honorable Mention squad.

O'Brien, a 2013 NECC-First Team selection, ranked first in the conference with 186 face-off wins this season and was fifth in face-off percentage with a 71% mark. The sophomore also ranks third with 101 ground balls, while he scored two goals and two assists for four points in 15 games played this year. 

Cidado was a defensive catalyst for the Pride all season long, leading Regis with 14 caused turnovers this season - a mark that also ranked ninth in the NECC. Cidado scooped up 34 ground balls and recorded one assist this year.

Crane was named Honorable Mention after leading the conference with the fewest goals allowed this season (76) and the highest save percentage (63.6%). He also ranked second for his goals-against average (7.70), and was third in total saves (133), wins (6), and minutes played (592:23).

Leighton joins Crane on the Honorable Mention Team after ranking among NECC leaders in goals (36), assists (25), and points (61). He is also third in man-up goals with seven and fifth in man-down goals with one. Leighton was named the NECC Player of the Week once this season.
