BEAVERS POWER PAST PRIDE, 27-4

BABSON PARK, Mass. – Babson College raced out to an early lead and never looked back as the Beavers defeated visiting Regis College on Sunday afternoon in Babson Park, Mass. The Pride fall to 4-10 overall and 0-5 in the Pilgrim League, while Babson has won three-straight games to improve its record to 8-6 overall and 4-0 in league games.

Babson junior Alex Packer (Hudson, Ohio) led all players with four goals to go with one assist for five points, while senior Alex Patinkin (Providence, R.I.) added three goals and five assists for a game-high eight points while also picking up four groundballs. Sophomore Phil Russo (Middleton, Mass.) chipped in with three scores and an assist while winning 21 of 26 face-offs, first-year Scott Doten (Western Springs, Ill.) also scored three times, and first-year John Harrison (Pembroke, Mass.) finished a solid all-around effort with two goals, four groundballs, and two caused turnovers.

Babson dominated play from the outset, taking an 8-0 lead after the first quarter of play. Seven different players scored in the period, led by Packer's two goals that bookended the run. The Beavers then netted the first three goals of the second quarter, with junior Mauricio Palazzi (McLean, Va.), sophomore Kyle Barsalou (Longmeadow, Mass.), and Russo each tallying their second of the day.

Regis finally broke through when first-year Jack O'Brien (Milton, Mass.) scored a man-up goal from classmate Andrew O'Reilly (Hollis,N.H.) with 5:59 left in the second, but Babson came right back with Doten's second strike of the afternoon to take a 12-1 lead into halftime.

The Beavers continued to maintain control of the contest in the second half, putting up five goals in the third and 10 more in the fourth to complete the 27-4 victory.

Senior James Whalen (Westwood, Mass.) started and picked up the win in goal for Babson, despite not having to make a save in the first 15 minutes of play. Junior Adam Daroff (Pepper Pike, Ohio) played the second quarter and stopped two shots, first-year Michael Spera (Mahwah, N.J.) manned the Beaver net with one save in the third, and senior Ryan Lee (Wallingford, Conn.) finished up without making a stop in the fourth.

Junior Breandan Crane (Billerica, Mass.) finished with 10 saves in net for Regis, while O'Brien and sophomore Peter Leighton (Wilmington, Mass.) each tallied two goals to pace the Pride offense.

The Pride return to action on Wednesday night with a 7:00 p.m. Pilgrim League game against the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
