PRIDE ALMOST DEFEAT DANIEL WEBSTER

Nashua, N.H. – Tied it eight early in the fourth quarter, the Daniel Webster men’s lacrosse team tallied three goals down the stretch to post an 11-8 victory over first year program Regis College in a regional matchup Friday at Eagle Field for their first victory of the season.

Bradford Hastings (Mansfield, Mass.) led the Pride (0-4) with five goals and an assist, while Wade Thongsythavong (Salem, Mass.) notched two goals and an assist and Tim Wells (Weston, Mass.) had a goal and assist.

Tommy Driscoll (South Boston, Mass.) was strong in net, making 20 saves for the Eagles, while Andrew LaMacchia (Lynn, Mass.) made 13 saves for Regis.

Regis jumped ahead with the game’s first two goals in the opening 2:49 as Hastings and Thongsythavong scored just 15 seconds apart but the Devaney answered with two strikes later in the period to tie it at two after one and McKenzie would put the hosts ahead early in the second and the Eagles held a 4-3 lead at the half.

Leading 7-5 after three, the Eagles saw Regis rally early in the final frame as Hastings cut it to 7-6 49 seconds in and tied it on Thongsythavong’s second of the day 39 ticks later.

DWC would finish with a 44-36 total shots advantage, while Regis would win the battle of the turf finishing with a 45-35 groundballs differential.
